JABU LOGISTICS WINS AFRICARENA 2021 STARTUP OF THE YEAR AWARD}

Namibian founded Startup, JABU Logistics wins the Series A Start-Up of The Year award at the AfricArena Summit 2021

Cape Town, South Africa, November– Namibian founded tech startup JABU Logistics won the Series A Start-Up of the Year award at this year’s AfricArena Summit. The fifth annual AfricArena Summit which took place on the 16 – 17th November 2021 in Cape Town, South Africa. The summit saw over 200+ in-person attendees and brought high level international investors and startups from 15 African countries together for a two-day event. The event also included keynote speeches and panel discussions from the top minds in business, technology, and investment on the continent and saw nine startups and one Venture Capital firm winning awards in various categories. 

JABU was one of 40+ startups operating in Africa, between the Seed stage, Series A, and Growth stage invited to pitch at the final rounds in front of top investors at the summit, walking away with the Series A Startup of the Year Award. JABU Founder and CEO David Akinin, representing JABU at the summit, said the award is an honour. “This is especially an honour [as it] allows us to start putting Namibia on the map as a driver of tech and pusher in Southern Africa.” Akinin also said the award shows the significance of the informal retail sector plays in the African economy and said that “it is time for the informal retail economy to stop being called informal, it should just be called the economy.”
